I hope that when you read this you can take into account that so many of our soldiers have traveled around the world just to keep us safe. Most have seen things that other cant even imagine. I have been there and have that it is still hard to express to the ones that I love what I went through and why I focus so hard on showing everyone around me each day how much they mean to me. I have found that writing these short stories helps some times even though Im not sure if the meaning of them is clear. My post are to give you a look inside the mind of a soldier that on one side has seen unspeakable death and destruction but on the other is a loving husband and father. Please check back as I add more to this. the more that read, the more I wil post!

He wakes and steps to the door. The door leads to a new place and each time he wakes he hesitates to open it. The memories of days before rush through his head in a cloud of groggy haze. Some make him feel warm like a summer day with a gentle breeze blowing through his heart. The faces of his wife and kids lead most of these thoughts like a slide show in his mind. The memories are so real that for a moment he can hear his wives voice like a whisper in the wind and he gasp a quick breath and then its gone.
The other memories are more like the aching pain he feels in his joints after a long day of work. Throbbing deep below the surface, out of reach of any relief. The faces with these memories have no names, just strangers that come and go with each passing day. Too many to remember where they was from or were they was to go. The days blend together and the time stretches as the hours spent away from home seem like years. As these memmories rush into his head a cold sensation runs up his spine chilling him right to the bone. The traveler then takes a deep breath and prepares to open the door to the new days voyage. He knows that the longer he stands at the door the longer the day will be. So with that he opens the door and steps into the whirl wind of time and begins the voyage that will follow a long road home. That’s his drive and that then becomes the focus of his mind as he steps out the door into the reckage of hate and war, he takes comfort in knowing that today is the new beginning to the end and home is just a few more open doors away. He smiles and looks forward to when the faces on the other side of the opening door are the angels of his love living in his heart and home.
