Pollution Prevention

Why is all our water so polluted?

Water pollution can come from many different places, but the most common reason that our creeks, rivers, lakes and beaches are so pollouted is from pollutants/trash that flow into storm drains. After storm water and urban runoff like water from washing your car or dog or watering your lawn even debrie from construction sites flow into the storm drains, these pollutants get sent to the nearest creek, river, lake or ocean. That means any pollutant on the street gets carried to our bodies of water and eventually the ocean. Pretty sad to think about isn’t it?

Thankfully, many companies are trying to solve this problem. Like the Advanced Civil Group; A Disabled Veteran Owned Civil Engineering Company. The have developed what is called, SWPPP (Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan). Their moto is “The Only Thing in the Drain should be the Rain”. Their plan is to keep dirt, chemicals, and trash out of the city sewer system and out of natural water systems. They are a licensed contractor with the right qualifications for preparing and implementing these plans all while striving to save our environment for generations to come. It is a wonderful cause!

Advanced Civil Group is a full service civil design and construction firm based in Orange County. So this means, most of the SWPPP jobs are done in Southern California. They service Orange County, San Diego County, San Bernardino County, Riverside County, and Los Angeles County.

SWAPP is doing their part by using barriers to keep the rain water from picking up excessive amounts of sediment, now lets help them keep our earth clean. Even if their isn’t a storm, make sure you don’t let water full of pollutants like dirt, chemicals, soaps and grass clippings run down the street and into your storm drain. Make sure to clean up after your pet in your yard or when you take it out for a walk. Convince other to use less water when they wash their cars. Also, ask them to use a bucket with water and soap to wash the car, then drain the dirty/soapy water down the sink or in the grass. And Please, throw all your trash in a garbage can and not on the street, sidewalk or grass. And last, the shorter the trips in your car, the less the air is polluted. Thanks for the help!
