Nowadays people often suffer joint injuries due to bad shoes, sports or one sided strain. Bauerfeind Braces can help you make them less painful or even prevent then.

In my last Blog Entry about running shoes, i have mentioned, that wearing the wrong shoes, specifically shoes with ecessive cushioning or high heels can, and most likely will in the long run result in pain or injuries of ankles or your knees. Those shoes will lead to degenerated muscles in your legs (more correct ankles or knees) and make you more prone to injury.
While, you should wear proper shoes to prevent such injuries in the long run, the company Bauerfeind offers great braces to help making those injuries less painful. They do the job that your, now degenerated or strained, muslces should normally do. They support your joints and give you the ability to do sports, even though you are injured, or to overcome your daily routine without experiencing pain.
From my past as a runner who was using improper shoes i can tell you that i had various injuries. Ankle, knee and even elbow (that one was from playing Tennis though). And the things that have always helped me most were not ointments or painkillers. Braces were by far the most helpful thing during that time. You wear them when you need them and take them off when you don’t.
I have tried various differend kinds and brands of braces and i have wasted a lot, and i really mean a lot money on relatively cheap, but abolutely useless braces. No matter which body part was hurt, i always ended up with a Bauerfeind brace. They are of superb quality, have good design (nearly all of them are available in different colors and even different shapes) and are very durable and robust. You can even throw them into the washing washing machine, even though the packaging tells you not to (i am doing this for years now and it has neither loosened or shown any other signs of wear and tear).
Last but not least i want to add that they offer comfort that cannot be matched by any other manufacturer of braces. They might feel a little tight in the first place but after a few minutes of wearing them, and following your usual routine you will not even realize that they are on your knee, ankle, elbow, whatever.
Yes, Bauerfeind products have their price, but if you think about it, and consider the amount of joy that they can bring back to your favorite activities, they are really cheap, you might even call them a special offer.
I know that i might sound like Bauerfeind employee, but i just haven’t found a downside of those amazing products.

The discussion about, let’s say it, feeding children with drugs has cooled down in the public. I wonder why? Still millions of children are fed with Ritalin.

Do you know somebody that has a prescription for Ritalin? I bet you do.

Wikipedia says that “ADHD(Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) is the most commonly studied and diagnosed psychiatric disorder in children, affecting about 3 to 5% of children globally with symptoms starting before seven years of age.”
It is well studied. That is why they feed children with drugs. I guess it is common sense, that drugs are necessary when you’re not as they wish. It’s sad. I am not aiming at telling you to leave these kids alone! What we want to talk about is where does ADHD come from? It’s not a retardation. We want to talk about that, because the mentality around the globe is alarming.
We want to keep living as we used to and if our body or mind fails to adjust to that, we use drugs? sounds great! not really.

So let’s hear what others say, that are not opening their medicine cabinet too fast. I’ve found Professor J. Egger, pediatric neurologist, that tells you to give your children “foods that are rich in omega 3 fatty acids and high-quality protein and fat-soluble vitamins and trace elements.”
He recommends a different diet and he continues “The important thing here is the inclusion in natural form.”

N..atural form? Let’s see what that means, i dont know..

I believe, if you found this article, you already have read about what is supposed to be healthy nutrition these days, and if not, do it now. it is a complex topic in the beginning, but once you get used to the structures, you will be able to adjust quickly to the new information we gain every day.

Marcelo Alves has two children was a dishwasher when he began to feel very tired with the work. When he discovery his heart disease, called cardiomyopathy.
He already made some surgeries, the disease weakens the heart and consequently affects other organs. Marcelo started to have problems other problems his kidneys is also compromised, despite the cocktail of 40 pills a day he is weak and no longer can stand to walk or talk. Without the transplant he is with the lifetime computed in at most one year and half. But a new hope emerged this week with the death of Alexandrina Maria Darios who fell down the stairs in the house, she was seriously injured and out the fallacy. This way your son decided to donate her heart to Marcelo Alves. It is logical that still has a big process it all, and need to prove.
Marcelo Alves is undocumented, this fact is disturbing that it enters the queue of people waiting for transplants; Another fact and considered whether the heart is compatible and the difference of age, Marcelo 34 Alexandrina and 67.
The Tragedy of Alexandrina born love of neighbor, solidarity and hope for many who are in a hospital bed waiting for transplants, she was visiting her son in United State when the tragedy happen, but all know her, believe she will agree and be happy to help others.

So you made a New Year’s resolution to lose weight this year. Now what do you do? You’ve tried to lose weight in the past, but either it didn’t work or you lost weight and put it all back on. What can you do different this time?

Maybe you just haven’t found the right way for you to lose weight. There are so many diet programs out there, how do you know which one to try?

The key is to find a program that teaches you how to eat healthy. When you learn how to eat right and stay on that program long enough it will become habit to eat right. It takes 27 days to form a habit.

Look for a program that lets you eat regular food, a good variety of fruits, vegetables, proteins, etc. If you have to constantly eat things you don’t like, you won’t stay with it. A lot of programs come with meal plans, and recipes. Read through the meal plan to see if you can see yourself eating what is on it.
Also it should have a planned snack between meals. By planning a snack, you will be less tempted to find other things to eat.

If you want to take supplements to help you lose the weight, make sure you check them out thoroughly before you take them. There is plenty of information to be found on line. Check the ingredients to make sure there is nothing potentially harmful.

Many plans also have an exercise plan with it. If you are already very active, a more serious exercise regimen can be used in it’s place. The key is to make sure you are doing something to get yourself moving.

If following a plan is not right for you, that doesn’t mean you can’t find a good way to lose weight. Learn to eat right and pay attention to what you are eating. There are several books on healthy eating. There are also many cookbooks that are full of good, healthy recipes that the entire family will like. Just go yo your favorite book store and pick up some good reading on the subject.

Some pointers if you decide you want to do this on your own without a plan to follow:
Eat breakfast – this gets your metabolism going.
Drink plenty of water.
Smaller portions. Stop eating before you are full. Remember, you don’t have to clean your plate.
Plan your meals and snacks. This will keep from going through the drive-through.
Eat a good variety of foods.

Just remember, the key to losing weight and keeping it off, is eating right.

Eat to live, don’t live to eat.

Water Birth

A couple of years ago when I became pregnant with my first daughter, Rhagan, I had no idea what to expect during this totally amazing journey. Immediately I began researching and digging to find everything I could so I could know what was happening to my body and how the little life inside of my being was growing. In this search I found something I wasn’t looking for, because I didn’t know I should have been looking for it. This “something” was choices about birth. Choices of how, where, and in what environment I would labor and my baby would enter our world.
The options seemed endless as I search online and in books and magazines. I could have my baby the standard American way in a hospital, with an IV and immobility. I could have my baby in a birthing center with professional midwives available to aid me, but I would still have the saftey net of being close to an emergency center. I could have my baby at home with a midwife. Of I could have a free birth and labor and birth at home with no professional present at all.
All of these choices and then there are a lot of inside details about each option. Can I walk, squat, eat, drink, use hydrotherapy for pain relief? Do I want an epidural? Do I want to actually birth my baby into the water?
These were all questions I pondered. I decided I wanted to have a water birth. I didn’t know where or how I would accomplish this but I knew that is what I wanted if at all possible. As I began my research of how to do this I came to the disappointment that certain places would let you labor in the water but would not let you birth in the water. At that time I was not comfortable with having my baby at home. I live in Ohio and there are no free standing birth centers, so then I surrendered to the hospital birth.
After my birth experience with Rhagan, I will be having my next baby at home and in water, God willing. I already found a midwife to attend the next birth at home!
Water birth provides many benefits for the laboring mother and the baby. The book Choosing Waterbirth by Lakshmi Bertum is a great resource for this topic. Water has been used for hydrotherapy for hundreds of years. The weightlessness water provides takes much pressure off of the the mother’s pelvic region during labor. Emersion in the warm water allows muscles in the abdomen, back, and perinium to relax, allowing for a more comfortable labor.
The benefit it provides for the baby during birth is the transition from the warmth of the uterus to the warmth of the water and then a gradual transition into cool air. This versus an immediate cold shock, blinding lights, and a thunder of sounds. How terrifying it must be, and just to think, this is the first out of uterus experience for the little baby. I suggest reading Birth Withouth Violence by Frederick Leboyer. This is a poetic approach about the experience of birth from the viewpoint of the baby. Life changing.
Water birth is what I believe to be a dream birth and next time, sometime soon, I will strive for that dream once again.

HOW TO HELP HANDLE THE STRESS

  Before I get started, let me tell you my brief background of the stress over the course of my life.  I was the only child in a broken home and was raised by an alcoholic mother that left me on my own when I was 15.   After that I was in the ARMY, a Deputy Sheriff, Counselor for teens with addictions and behavior problems,  Car sales consultant, unemployed,  Divorced and re-married, and the most pleasurable stress of being a father to six great kids and a husband to the most amazing wife ever.   In the last 37 years I have had to deal with anything from life and death decisions to what do I wear to dinner tonight!  Im not a doctor and i don’t have a degree in social services.  I am just offering helpful ideas that have helped me and my family get through rough times as we manage life’s challenges. I always say that you can make a tool box of helpful life tools and the more you have , the easier it is to find the one that fits what needs worked on!   So with that said lets start and remember that all the advice wont work for everyone.

   Lets start with one thing that I feel helps me out alot with stress that builds up.  It may sound to simple but it has worked for me and others that I know.  “WRITE IT DOWN”  See, told you it sounded simple! Most people wont go to the harware store with out a list of things they need to complete a job, so why not make a list of things needed work on stress?  What I do is take a moment and sit down with a piece of paper or a keyboard and start with what is on my mind the most. Example, if the monthly bills are bugging me the most at that time, then I write down “the bills” and leave space below it.  Then I move on to the next thing in my head like “house cleaning” or “work”  and keep jotting down the things that are bottled in me.  You don’t have to organize them or give them any priority, just put whats in your head on paper so you can see it.  Now that they are all in black and white I can focus on each one separately by going back to the top and looking at what I put down.  Now i think about that topic only for a few minutes then start putting dow ideas that will help resolve the problem or at least make it more managable.  Example, if the monthly bills are a stress then i may write down to work on a budget or even just tart working on the budget right then.  I may even ask my wife t help me if I cant get it or have a good idea.  having someone else look at the list you made can help some times for more than one reason.  There are times we need fresh ideas that we just cant come up with our self.  Other times it ma just help a wife or a freind understand what we are faced with and they can understand our behavior better even if they dont have an solutions for the problems.  But I find that once I have some of my stressful problems on paper in front of me that I can think more clear on ways to handle them.  I also have something to refer back to if I get distracted during this time.  Distracted? Six kids?  I cant imagine a distraction happening!  I have also learned while doing this that I can reflect on how I have reacted to other problems based on what I was stressing over.  Other times I have found that one was over shadowing another and causing something simple to become larger than what it ever needed to be.  Now, I know that you cant fix everything by simply writting it down, but you may be able to manage stressful problems better when you can work on them one at a time instead of all at once.  Try it, it may just work for you.  Maybe even try it together with some one that you trust because there are times that two minds are better than one and others can see things in a different light than we can.
