Ticket America

Tags: , , , ,

I have had the amazing opportunity to attend a few Major League Baseball Games in my 30 years of life. And I absolutely love the environment. I am quite happy with a nice cold lemon-ice, popcorn and big juicy hotdog. You can’t beat that feeling. I think besides the game and the players, I love to just sit and watch people in the stands. It makes me smile just thinking about it.

I’d have to say that watching the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field is one of my favorite past times. Although, I do enjoy watching the Detroit Tigers play at Comerica Park. Hopefully one day I will be able to see the St. Louis Cardinals at Busch Stadium
and the Kansas City Royals at Kauffman Stadium. Both of these teams are pretty close to my hometown in Oklahoma so weekend away in either direction is definitely on my to-do list to the upcoming year.

Although, I don’t have any trips planned yet to see another game, I do know where I am going to buy my tickets when I’m ready. I came across this website called Ticket America and they have all sorts of tickets available for regular season games and playoffs. It is a very helpful source for Sports or Concert Tickets. They have no hidden fees or chargers and you can even sell your unwanted tickets. That’s a pretty sweet deal don’t you think?

Every Four Years

Guest post Terry Bard

Every four years I watch the Cup, and this year is going to be incredible, because, after seeing several satellite tv deals, I finally decided to buy satellite tv. I love watching the World Cup because it is a family tradition. Every four years my family and I try to get together as much as possible to watch the games. Even if we cannot join each other to watch all the games together, it is the topic of discussion at the dinner table. We all cheer for different teams, which make watching it even more interesting. We make inside bets on our teams. I also cheer for Brazil as they are my favorite team of all time. Since I was little I always loved Brazil and watched them religiously. Soccer is one sport that everyone in my family enjoys, so the World Cup is a big deal. This year we are planning a party and hoping our favorite teams make it to the final game. I love that there are games daily because it always gives us something to talk about. Who would have thought that a simple sport would keep a family together?

The Saddle Club

Tags: , , ,

Each evening, before I tuck my daughter into bed, we watch an episode of “The Saddle Club” with the cable tv deal we bought. This show is about a group of children that have horses and learn how to take care of them. I enjoy watching this show with my daughter because it has a story line that could possibly happen to a child in a real situation. The characters on the show work through many different problems and situations and this gives my daughter and I an opportunity to discuss why we feel what each character did was wrong or right. We also talk about how we would handle these situations if we were to be this character. My daughter enjoys the show because she has a love for horses and each one of the children on this show has a horse to take care of. The show is also educational as far as horses are concerned. We have learned a lot about saddles, styles of riding and different competitions involving horses just by watching this show. Watching this show each evening with my daughter gives her an opportunity to relax and get ready for bed and she also has the opportunity at that time to discuss any issues that may have happened to her that are similar to what the characters of this show are going through.

Tiger at the 2010 Masters in Augusta

Tags: , , , , , ,

The 2010 U.S. Masters opened up today at an early 7:50 AM. The Masters is a huge event in the golf world and has been around since 1934. It is the first major golf tournament of the year. The prize money for winning first place in the tournament is around 1.5 million dollars. The winner also gets the infamous green sports coat. The returning of Tiger Woods has caused a big stir lately as well. Many people are predicting Tiger to take the Masters with ease this year. Others say that he has alot of work to do because he has been out of practice for the past few months with the troubles he’s been in with his wife. Tiger teed off today at 1:42 PM with Matt Kuchar and K.J. Choi. ESPN loved this because with their air time at 4:00 PM, they could get live video of Tiger in action. One event today on the course that caused some stir was when Tiger was seen using his cell phone. Players were asked for no cell phone use during tournament play. Woods commented that he was recording his playing partner Mark O’Meara while he putted. Mark commented later that he was having trouble with his putting and he asked Tiger if he would get it on video so he could see what was wrong. The incident is still under review and is being determined if players should be allowed to do this. Tiger finished up his day 8 under par. He is not far from the front but he still has some ground to cover. His tee time for Friday is at 10:45 AM.

Houston Rodeo Concerts

Tags: , , , , ,

You would be suprised to know that even though I live in Oklahoma, I have never been to a Rodeo? I even had a friend who rode bulls and another was a rodeo clown. I always wanted to attend these nail bitting events but never had a chance. Hopefully one day I will be able to witness a show first hand and LIVE instead of just on TV. I know if they are fun to watch on TV, they have to be even more exciting in person.

Yeah I live in Oklahoma, but I wasn’t raised here. I am actually from Indiana but don’t be fooled, there are some folks there that are as hillbilly as they come and deep in my roots I have a side of country in me. That is why the Houston Rodeo is even more enticing to me. After events like the Rodeo they pull out this big stage and famous musical guests play till the cows come home. They have had all sorts of musicians from Hip-Hop, R&B, Latin and one of my favorites; Country. I would love to see Kenny Chesney, Rascal Flatts or Brooks & Dunn in Concert.

To purchase tickets to concerts at the Houston Rodeo just visit their website. They even have what’s called, Action Seats where you get to be down close to all the “Action” and they include complimentary food and beverages. That’s sounds like a good deal to me. I even checked out some of their rates and they are very reasonably priced. My family and I really need to make a trip down to Houston and see one of these events. My roots are calling!

Nutrition Weight Loss

Tags: , , , ,

Have you ever hungered for weeks just to lose a few kilos? Only to realize that the kilos returned twice as fast as you lost them? Lose weight without hunger. All you need is just a little bit of discipline in your dietary choice, that’s it, I promise.

First of all I want to clarify my one and only point: If you want to lose weight it is best to avoid carbs.
That is really all that there is to losing weight. You do not need expensive pills, special books, extraordinary diets that demand extremely costly food. Just avoid carbs.
You do not believe me? You think that there has to be a trick?
The only “trick”, if you want to call it one, is finding out which foods contain high concentrations of carbs (a small amount of carbs every day is fine, like 40 grams or less) and avoiding them.
I will go ahead and name a few kinds of food that you should avoid if you want to eat better nutrition.
Flour and therefore bread and other products that contain a big amount of it. It contains an extremely high concentration of carbs and is therefore really bad. Not only for your weight, but for your health in general.
Potatoes The same thing really. Nutrition Weight Loss and potatoes have nothing to do with eatch other.
Rice Avoid it, it is not good for you. You will have a better nutrition with out it.
Sugar Food that contains big amounts of sugar should be avoided too. Watch out, that does also include fructose in drinks. No apple juice, no soft drinks.
Noodles Seriously, do not eat noodles if you plan on losing weight any time soon.

Now that I have told you what not to eat, i can tell you what you can eat, even in insane amounts if that is what you want. Fat and protein. Did i just say fat? Yes i did, eating big amounts of fat is absolutely no problem as long as you do not eat carbs with it. You won’t gain weight. That means you can eat meat and fish and all kinds of vegetables. Cheese is also great.

I know that this may sound tough at first, but be aware that you can eat as many of those as you like. Ever had a steak in the morning, for lunch, and in the evening? Well you can, and you will not gain weight, as long as you do not have potatoes with it.

If you cannot handle this, rather strict diet. Go ahead and eat loads of carbs one day a week, it might even help you lose weight even faster because it upregulates your thyroid activity (i cannot warrant that though) and it certainly help you to stay disciplined the rest of the week.

Best regards

Bauerfeind Braces

Tags: , , , , , ,

Nowadays people often suffer joint injuries due to bad shoes, sports or one sided strain. Bauerfeind Braces can help you make them less painful or even prevent then.

In my last Blog Entry about running shoes, i have mentioned, that wearing the wrong shoes, specifically shoes with ecessive cushioning or high heels can, and most likely will in the long run result in pain or injuries of ankles or your knees. Those shoes will lead to degenerated muscles in your legs (more correct ankles or knees) and make you more prone to injury.
While, you should wear proper shoes to prevent such injuries in the long run, the company Bauerfeind offers great braces to help making those injuries less painful. They do the job that your, now degenerated or strained, muslces should normally do. They support your joints and give you the ability to do sports, even though you are injured, or to overcome your daily routine without experiencing pain.
From my past as a runner who was using improper shoes i can tell you that i had various injuries. Ankle, knee and even elbow (that one was from playing Tennis though). And the things that have always helped me most were not ointments or painkillers. Braces were by far the most helpful thing during that time. You wear them when you need them and take them off when you don’t.
I have tried various differend kinds and brands of braces and i have wasted a lot, and i really mean a lot money on relatively cheap, but abolutely useless braces. No matter which body part was hurt, i always ended up with a Bauerfeind brace. They are of superb quality, have good design (nearly all of them are available in different colors and even different shapes) and are very durable and robust. You can even throw them into the washing washing machine, even though the packaging tells you not to (i am doing this for years now and it has neither loosened or shown any other signs of wear and tear).
Last but not least i want to add that they offer comfort that cannot be matched by any other manufacturer of braces. They might feel a little tight in the first place but after a few minutes of wearing them, and following your usual routine you will not even realize that they are on your knee, ankle, elbow, whatever.
Yes, Bauerfeind products have their price, but if you think about it, and consider the amount of joy that they can bring back to your favorite activities, they are really cheap, you might even call them a special offer.
I know that i might sound like Bauerfeind employee, but i just haven’t found a downside of those amazing products.

Running shoes for Overpronators and Supinators

Tags: , , , , , ,

There has been an increasing trend for over- and supinators to use neutral running Shoes recently. It is said that, if you do not have a strong malformation, it is best to just use a neutral shoe. That will help you to develop your foot and knee muscles, make them stronger and, most importantly, make you less injury prone.
From my own experience as a supinator i can tell you, that i was affected way more by injuries when i used a shoe which “supported my foot perfectly”. I was utterly devastated, because every time i started to run more frequently, and started to prepare for a race i experienced growing knee and ankle pain.
Then i discovered the Nike Free 3.0. For those of you who do not know this fabulous shoe i will explain it a little bit. It is a shoe that is meant to simulate barefoot running (and in my opinion does pretty well at simulating it). One would think that that kind of should would be like poison to Overpronators and Supinators, but i can tell you that it is the complete opposite. Since i have started using it my ankle and my knee both have gotten a LOT stronger, i can literally feel it. I have experienced situations in which i would have sprained my ankle, or hurt my feet seriously recently, and due to my strong improved muscles around my ankle i didn’t get hurt at all. Also i do not experience even the slightest knee pains, even after a long run i feel perfectly fine.
I run about 60 Kilometers/37 Miles a week and i am currently preparing for a half marathon and i have never felt this confident before.
There is one restriction i must make though. If you do fast, or very tiring workouts, that’s really not the time you want to improve your knee or ankle strength at.
I recommend minimalist running shoes for that purpose (for neutral Runners, aswell as for Overpronators and Supinators) and for Races aswell.
A great example for a minimalist Running shoe is the Saucony Grid Tangent. It offers slight, but sufficient cushioning. But be aware that there are are similar shoes offered by every major shoe manufacturer: Nike, Saucony, K-Swiss, Adidas, New Balance, and so on
The other great thing about those minimalist shoes is, that they are usually pretty cheap <$100. They have no pointless, excessive cushioning, that ends up destroying your knees and ankles. Your muscles won’t end up degenerated and last but not least you will suffer fewer injuries.
Keep in mind that my suggestion is based only on my own experience and that i cannot recommend the use of neutral shoes if you have a strong malformation.
